About

Objectives

I have been involved with Cardano since near the beginning and am passionate about decentralized governance and the Cardano community. I studied philosophy as an undergraduate at university and wrote a paper on decentralized governance in postgrad computer science, as well as writing my own dApp. I teach web development and digital technology to high school students and have encouraged them to learn Cardano, smart contracts, web3 and NFTs and helped on of them create their own stakepool on the Cardano testnet.

Decentralization doesn’t mean unlimited spending. It means rules that we choose. A cap aligned with historical inflows encourages responsible governance while still leaving the decisions in the hands of voters.

YesAmaru Treasury Withdrawal 2025Decided epoch 571View rationaleEnacted1y ago

Thinking in particular about the future-proofing and the dev experience long term.
The community should obviously watch this very closely to ensure the substantial funds being asked for are used to provide direct benefit, but at this stage of the governance system it makes sense that larger scale projects might be approved from those already well experienced and established in developing the architecture. If they don't live up to what they promise then the community doesn't need to continue to fund projects from the big players. However, I believe the long term resilience and decentralization is important, and particularly the improving of the dev experience.

As much as we love staking rewards, I am also a big believer in the Cardano treasury and funding system. Whilst an argument could potentially be made for a reduction down from 20%, to half it is quite a dramatic cut. Even though I'll keep an open mind to cuts in the future, I am not in favour of a reduction this significant at this time.
