Badges recognize governance participation. They are earned automatically; there is nothing to claim or apply for. The badge overview lists every badge and how many participants have earned it.
-
What counts. On-chain activity (votes, vote rationales, registrations, submitted governance actions) and forum activity (posts, topics, reactions). Several badges reward doing both: discussing an action in its thread and voting on it on-chain.
-
Never the direction of a vote. No badge depends on voting Yes, No, or Abstain. Participation, transparency, and consistency are rewarded; positions are not.
-
Tiers. Count-based badges come in bronze, silver, and gold. The badge keeps its motif and changes its color as you reach the next milestone.
-
Permanent. Once earned, a badge is never taken away, and tiers only ever go up.
-
Where they attach. On-chain badges belong to the on-chain identity (a DRep’s badges show on its profile even if it never signed in). Forum badges belong to the forum account; for a signed-in DRep both appear together.
-
Hidden badges. A few badges only reveal their name and criterion when earned. They show up as ??? cards until then.
Awards are recalculated about once an hour from synced on-chain data, so a fresh vote can take a little while to show up. Deleted or hidden forum posts never count toward badges.
