DRepTalk keeps moderation light and transparent. There are no appointed moderators today: the community itself decides what stays. We may bring in moderators later as the forum grows, but for now a single, simple rule governs what gets hidden.
How flagging works today
Members signed in with a writer role (DRep, SPO, Constitutional Committee member, or proposer) can flag a post they consider abusive, spam, or off-topic. Delegator logins cannot flag, and nobody can flag their own post or a system post such as the opening post of a governance action. Once a post has been flagged by 3 different people, it is automatically hidden from the forum. No single person can take a post down on their own: it always takes three independent flags, so one bad actor cannot silence a discussion.
Hidden is not deleted
Hiding and deleting are different, and the difference is not cosmetic. A hidden post is out of sight but still stored, and it comes back unchanged if the flags are withdrawn. A deleted post leaves the forum at once, and once 30 days have passed its text is erased: the post itself, every earlier version of it, and its entry in the search index. Deletion is not a member action: only the site operator deletes a post, on request or to deal with abuse. One exception happens automatically: a vote rationale cross-posted to a discussion is removed on its own when the on-chain vote behind it never confirms.
The 30 days exist so that abusive content can still be dealt with after it has been taken down. Anything that has to be kept on record needs to stay hidden rather than be deleted, because erasure is not reversible.
Looking ahead
Appointed moderators with additional tools are a possibility for the future, especially as the community scales. Until then, community flagging is the only moderation mechanism, and the threshold is kept deliberately simple.
