About
Objectives
Remove minPoolCost, or replace it with a minimum margin, since a percentage treats every pool the same whatever its size. Raise k so stake spreads across more pools. Back treasury spending on infrastructure, protocol work, developer tooling and marketing that reaches real users. Vote against spending on conferences and echo-chamber events. Motivations
I have run GNP1, a small self-hosted stake pool, since 2020. I charge 0% margin, and I currently return the 170 ADA minimum fee the protocol forces on me to my delegators. When the pool earns enough, we donate to mental health charities. I became a DRep because the rules are tilted against pools like mine. minPoolCost comes out of a pool's rewards before delegators see anything, so it takes a far bigger share from a small pool than a large one, and delegators drift to the big operators. Stake keeps concentrating and new pools struggle to ever mint a block. Governance should fix that, not protect it.

Voted NO. Treasury money shouldn't be used for a high-cost, speculative commodity bet with weak safeguards and an Ethereum-first setup.
I voted NO on the Cardano Strategic Copper Reserve (₳22M RWA Tokenization). Treasury money shouldn't be used for a high-cost, speculative commodity bet with weak safeguards and an Ethereum-first setup. Looks desperate.

YesShould stakePoolTargetNum (k) be raised from 500 to 1000? (SPO poll)Decided epoch 663revotedView rationaleClosed1d ago
Voted YES on raising k from 500 to 1000. Stake has stopped moving, and raising k gives new pools a real chance and a more decentralised Cardano.
I voted YES on raising k from 500 to 1000 as both a DRep and an SPO.
Don't let anyone bamboozle you with tech talk. The numbers are simple: stake has stopped moving. I checked them on the chain itself:
- Only 0.16% of stake changes pool each epoch. In 2021 it was 1.36%.
- 60% of the stake delegated to launch-era pools in 2020 is still with launch-era pools six years on.
- Just 36 to 58 operators hold over half of all stake and SPO voting power.
Raising k to 1000 halves the point where a pool is full, to about 38.9M ADA. Big pools would have to shed stake, and that stake has to go somewhere, giving new pools a real chance.
This is about a fairer start for small pools and a more decentralised Cardano.
