Test any governance action on preprod before you lock a 100,000 ada deposit

Writing the text for governance actions is time consuming, but getting the anchor hash, the previous action id, the guardrails script and the deposit right on the first try can be really tricky. DRepTalk can now build and submit every type of governance action on preprod:

  • Info actions
  • Treasury withdrawals
  • Protocol parameter changes (starting with the parameters k, a0, minPoolCost, rho and tau)
  • Motions of no confidence
  • Hard fork initiations
  • New constitutions
  • Committee updates

Treasury withdrawals and parameter changes are checked against the constitution's guardrails script before your wallet signs, so a rejected action never costs you a failed transaction.

The deposit on preprod is 1,000 tADA and comes back when the action expires. So you can try the whole flow at no real cost: write the metadata, review the action exactly as its page will render, sign as author, submit, and watch DReps and SPOs vote on it.

This is useful right now. If you think k should go to 1000 or minPoolCost to 75 ada, you can submit that exact parameter change on preprod and see the form's live impact figures before anyone puts real ada behind it.

Recommended way to use it:

  1. Open a thread in Proposal Drafts and collect feedback while nothing is on-chain yet.
  2. Rehearse the action on preprod.dreptalk.com/ga/new.
  3. Submit on mainnet and link your draft, so the discussion moves to the action's thread.

Mainnet governance submission follows soon.

Feedback welcome, especially from anyone who has submitted an action with other tools before. And tell me which parameters you want next.
