Abstract
This info action proposes naming the Protocol Version 12 hard fork “von Bergen” as a salute and recognition to Fabian von Bergen, also known as Zyroxa.
Fabian has been a Cardano community member since the ITN, an always critical, honest and sound voice in Cardano's past who introduced and guided many through the Cardano ecosystem, a well known person on the Cardano Forum, also SPO of the Tempus Stake Pool and a Cardano Ambassador since the earliest days of the program.
Motivation & rationale
Many of us remember Fabian as a humble and modest, yet hard working person. Kind and smart and always honest and authentic to his perspectives and opinions, a person who said what he thought and stood his ground. Fabian passed away in January 2026.
Naming the hard fork “von Bergen” would preserve Fabian’s name in Cardano’s history and recognize his lasting contribution to the community. This action is submitted as a salute to his work and his doings and the echo he will leave for this ecosystem.
Shall his name remain known to the ledger.
In deepest respect to Fabian.
Rationale highlights
Why some of the largest DReps voted for and against, in their own words. About vote rationales
I'll be voting YES on the "von Bergen" hard-fork naming. While looking into it, I gathered the other Cardano contributors we've lost recently into one place. So far: Fabian von Bergen (Zyroxa), Prof. Steven Lupien, "Bone" (@bone_pool), Siu Mui Wong, and Sean...

While looking into it, I gathered the other Cardano contributors we've lost recently into one place.
So far: Fabian von Bergen (Zyroxa), Prof. Steven Lupien, "Bone" (@bone_pool), Siu Mui Wong, and Sean Davies.
On voting: I'd rather not turn this into a contest — scoring one late contributor's record against another's to decide who is "worthy" of a name feels wrong to me. So unless a proposal is clearly unreasonable, I'll vote YES on naming actions as a rule, which means I may vote YES on several at the same time.
This list came from searching X and the community, so I've almost certainly missed people. If someone isn't here, let me know and I'll add them.
Rest in peace to all of them.

The Cardano Foundation votes YES. We’re in support of naming the next hard fork in memory of Cardano Community member Fabian von Bergen.
A PDF version of this rationale is also made available.
We appreciate Fabian’s dedication as a Cardano Ambassador and Stake Pool Operator, especially his contributions as a moderator in various Cardano channels to keep community members informed and safe. We support this gesture to honor his memory and his contributions to the ecosystem.
NOTE on 'Internal Voting':
The fields constitutional and unconstitutional below reflect the CF governance teams' individual opinions whether they are for or against the proposal. Reason for this inconsistency is, that CIP-136 is at the moment only applicable to CC rationales, but we want to record the internal opinions of our DRep assessment transparently as well.
