Agree to change from interim constitutional committee

  • Yes587.6K ₳Rationale

I believe the election process was conducted with integrity, fairness, and transparency, and I have full confidence in the elected members’ capabilities to serve the Cardano community effectively. Their diverse expertise and demonstrated commitment to our ecosystem provide a solid foundation for leadership during this pivotal time.
As someone who also represents a region that is often marginalized—like many Iranian voices—I value governance processes that welcome and empower all contributors, regardless of geography or background. That inclusivity is what builds robust, resilient systems, and I’m proud to vote YES to endorse these elected leaders.

I’m voting YES to replace the Interim Constitutional Committee with the elected Constitutional Committee because I accept the election’s legitimacy. Confirming the new CC on-chain prevents a governance gap when the ICC expires and keeps governance moving. Thanks to the incoming members for stepping up to serve Cardano and the Cardano Constitution.

The DRep community participated in a legitimate election process from May to July 2025. While I didn’t personally vote for every member who was selected, that’s how democracy works. The community spoke, the votes were counted, and now we need to honor that outcome.

I am voting yes on replacing the Interim Committee with DRep elected members (per Article VII §2), chosen via a transparent, audited process with staggered terms. This secures governance past epoch 580 with no constitutional breaches, treasury risks, or disclosure gaps.

    Summary

I vote yes to replace the current Interim Constitutional Committee with the elected members of the recent elections held by Intersect.

    Additional Context

Intersect MBO recently held elections for the replacement of the Interim Constitutional Committees. DReps voted 7 very competent members/groups to whom I perfectly align with my own vote. I therefore fully support the replacement of the current interim CC with the elected one.

  • Yes313.4K ₳Rationale

This proposal finalizes Cardano’s transition from a temporary, interim Constitutional Committee (ICC) to the fully elected, community-backed Constitutional Committee (CC).

The ICC was always intended as a stopgap measure. An election process has taken place to select the seven members to carry this responsibility with staggered terms for long-term stability.

Approving this update ensures: Continuity, Legitimacy & Functionality and maintains the checks and balances needed for treasury withdrawals, gov actions and other key decisions to proceed without disruption.

  • Yes298.9K ₳Rationale

I find this committee acceptable. While I would like to see Intersect and IOG maintain their positions on this committee I understand they both have valid reasons for not seeking reelection.

This proposal represents a critical milestone for Cardano as it marks the first full year of community-led governance following the establishment of the Cardano Constitution and initial on-chain voting mechanisms. While the governance process remains a "work in progress," this proposal is a constructive step that lays the groundwork for a more inclusive, transparent, and accountable decentralized system.

The incoming seven Constitutional Committee (CC) members bring fresh perspectives and diverse expertise to the governance framework, complementing the experience of outgoing participants. Their active participation is expected to enhance the oversight of governance decisions, promote fairness in evaluating proposals, and improve responsiveness to community feedback. This generational transition signifies maturity and resilience in Cardano's governance model, fostering broader community confidence.

Importantly, this proposal embraces the iterative nature of decentralized governance. It recognizes the ongoing need to engage the entire Cardano ecosystem, including DReps, SPOs, developers, and everyday ADA holders, in shaping future votes and budget allocations. The emphasis on increasing transparency, expanding participation beyond select groups, and refining compliance checks reflects a commitment to evolving governance practices in alignment with Cardano’s constitutional principles.

In summary, the proposal not only supports critical infrastructure and ecosystem development but also symbolizes a pivotal phase in the community’s journey toward robust, scalable, and inclusive self-governance. Voting YES reinforces confidence in this evolving process and encourages continued collaboration and refinement to strengthen Cardano’s governance for the long term.

The proposal to replace the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC) with the newly elected Constitutional Committee (CC) appears to be a routine and essential step in Cardano's governance evolution, aligning with the Constitution's requirements for staggered terms and continuity.

    tl:dr rationale

Protested MVG via DRep inactivity due to rushed, treasury-focused process over adoption/scalability priorities. Now voting YES for Constitutional Committee to mature governance.

    Full Rationale

Since registering as a DRep, I chose to remain inactive in onchain voting to protest how Minimum Viable Governance (MVG) was established on Cardano. I believe this process has concluded with the enactment of the 39 treasury withdrawal governance actions.

    My Core Concerns

    • Rushed Implementation: the process was rushed and dominated by actors seeking outsized near-term benefits rather than serving the ecosystem. The focus appeared to be accessing the Cardano treasury rather than implementing comprehensive governance capabilities.
    • Misplaced Priorities I believe we should have prioritized Cardano adoption and reducing barriers to it, especially addressing scalability capabilities by completing the Basho roadmap era.

    Moving Forward

However, we must build from where we are. A key step forward is replacing the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC) with a Constitutional Committee (CC).
While I would have preferred immediate onchain elections, I understand the MVG compromise through Intersect. I hope:

    • Future elections occur onchain independently of a centralised actor
    • The elected CC neither calcifies nor becomes a chaotic risk to governance

    My Vote

By voting YES for this New Committee governance action, I vote to prevent interruptions to Cardano's governance and support its maturation.

ARTICLE VII, Section 1 of the Cardano Constitution establishes the Constitutional Committee. Having participated in the election of these CC members, I can confirm that the process was free, fair and followed democratic principles. I therefore support this GA in replacing the interim CC with the newly elected CC, marking a significant step toward the full implementation of the CIP-1694 proposal.
