There's a push lately to move more Cardano governance talk into Discord. Before that becomes the default by accident, I want to ask the people who actually do the work what they need from the place where governance gets discussed: DReps, SPOs, proposers, ada holders, anyone who shows up.
I'm building a dedicated platform for exactly this. (Yes, I'm asking the question on the thing I'm building. That's the point. Tell me where it falls short.)
My bias, stated up front so you can argue with it: fast, chat-style channels are great for vibes and rough for decisions that have to hold up months later. But that's my opinion, not a requirement. Yours count more.
So, concretely: if this were your primary home for governance discussion, what are the must-haves, the nice-to-haves, and the absolute deal-breakers?
Some themes to get you going (use them, ignore them, add your own):
- Search and long-term archiving
- Thread structure, categories, readability for complex topics
- Transparency: linking to on-chain votes, public access
- Mobile experience and onboarding
- Spam and toxicity protection without heavy-handed censorship
- Optional wallet identity and verification
- Notifications and topic following
- Data export, API access, portability
- The tradeoff between fast and casual vs deep, structured, high-signal
- Anything you wish existed and doesn't
