Max was a much-loved member of the Cardano community, always thoughtful, generous, sharp-minded, and deeply committed to those he worked alongside.
He made significant contributions to the development of Cardano’s constitution and to many of the governance discussions and optimizations that will help shape the network’s future.
Max was integral to the election of the first fully elected Constitutional Committee (CC), serving as both a member and co-lead of the Constitutional Committee Election Working Group.
His impact on the network's founding governance documents was profound; as a delegate representing the Dutch Cardano community at the Constitutional Convention in Buenos Aires, he was one of the primary driving forces behind the inclusion of Article VIII in the Constitution.
Max was a dedicated DRep as a vital part of the Dutch DRep Collective, ensuring the voices of his community were heard. He was also a creative technologist, founding AdaMoments, a project that enabled ada holders to preserve their personal history by storing images, videos, and text as permanent "moments" on the Cardano blockchain. Beyond his own initiatives, Max was deeply committed to the Dutch community, facilitating meetups and connecting people across the ecosystem.

This Governance Action is an Info Action that does not introduce technical changes, economic parameter updates, or protocol risk. Instead, it proposes naming Protocol Version 11 the “van Rossem Hard Fork”, in memory of Max van Rossem, a respected contributor to the Cardano community.
From my perspective as a DRep, this proposal should be evaluated not on emotional grounds, but on its institutional and governance significance.
Cardano has a long-standing tradition of naming hard forks in ways that reflect its history, values, and contributors. This practice is not cosmetic. It plays an important role in shaping Cardano as a long-lived public infrastructure with memory, accountability, and continuity. We see this proposal as a continuation of that tradition.
Max van Rossem made substantial and lasting contributions to Cardano’s governance foundations. His work on the Cardano Constitution, his role in the Constitutional Committee election process, and his participation as a DRep represent the kind of long-term, community-oriented engagement that Cardano’s governance model depends on. Recognizing such contributions at the protocol-history level sends a clear and healthy signal to current and future participants.
As DReps, one of our responsibilities is to help cultivate a governance culture where participation matters, contributions are remembered, and responsibility is shared across time. Supporting this proposal reinforces that principle without introducing technical or economic trade-offs.
We also believe that abstaining or opposing an Info Action of this nature would not meaningfully protect the network, while potentially weakening the message that Cardano values sustained, constructive governance work. In contrast, supporting this proposal strengthens the social and institutional layer of Cardano without imposing costs or risks.
For these reasons, SIPO DRep supports this proposal and votes Yes.
We do so not as an act of sentiment, but as an expression of support for Cardano’s maturing governance framework and its ability to preserve the legacy of those who helped build it.

I vote YES in favour of naming the next Cardano hard fork after Max van Rossem. It has become community tradition to name hard fork events after prominent community contributors, with past hard forks named Vasil, Chang and Plomin.
I was fortunate enough to have briefly met Max in Argentina during the Constitutional Convention, there in his capacity as Delegate for the Dutch Cardano community. It was only after his passing that I learned of his many other contributions, as outlined in this proposal.
As one of three members who formed Cardano Constitutional Consortium (CCC), Max also ran for election in the first fully community-elected Constitutional Committee elections last year. Unfortunately, CCC placed ninth and just out of the top seven which were elected. As a member of Adara Consortium, who placed eight in that same election, we joined forces with the remaining members of the CCC to once again run in the recent Snap CC Election, this time as Phoenix Alliance. The naming and symbolism we put forth chosen in part as a way to try and honour Max’s legacy in some small way. Our consortium was once again unsuccessful in that election too and so I welcome another opportunity to honour Max’s legacy with a YES vote for this proposal.
