    I am abstaining because of a potential conflict of interest. I am one of the scope owners on this project, and Sundae Labs will be one of the development teams employed to help deliver on the goals of the project, and so I cannot in good conscience vote on this proposal. That being said, I believe very very strongly in the need for Node Diversity. Beyond just the added robustness to the network, reimplementing the Cardano protocol in another language is a forcing function: all of the design decisions, implementation details, and protocol trivia must be opened and re-examined in order to build a node. As we do so, we are making sure to document these things clearly, making them accessible to any who want to build on Cardano, from nodes. The beneficiaries of this effort extend far beyond those building alternative nodes, but to those building tooling, dApps, and interconnectivity solutions. Building an alternate node will help decentralize not just the network, but the brain trust of the entire protocol.

    Additionally, while some hold reservations about how it may impact delivery timelines of other projects, I'm actually quite optimistic. I believe that having a fresh, lower risk code base to experiment in may ultimately accelerate some of these roadmap items like Leios or Starstream.

    So, while I am abstaining on a matter of principle, if you are looking for guidance on how I would have voted absent that conflict, it would be a resounding yes.

    I firmly believe our absolute top priority must be establishing ecosystem sustainability. While introducing new alternative block-producing nodes certainly entails potential to introduce delays in releasing mission-critical scalability components due to the necessity of maintaining compatibility across nodes, I believe the Amaru initiative is critical to solidifying the censorship-resistance of the Cardano mission and introduces a potential path for more cost-effective node development in the long-term. I also believe learnings from building out an alternative node inherently lend to improve the overall integrity of the existing Haskell node.

    The Amaru team is solid, reputable and well-deserving of the immense responsibility.

    I vote “YES” in favour of the proposed budget for Amaru Node Development 2025. This is an extremely well composed proposal and from a highly respected team in the Cardano ecosystem. It serves as an excellent example of a governance action proposal. It is well-written, making excellent use of markdown which allows for much better readability on sites like GovTool, and provides excellent transparency by providing numerous links to websites, code repositories and profiles of key contributors, as well as a detailed cost breakdown for the requested amount of 1.5M ada. The proposal also provides a detailed administration and reporting framework to improve transparency and provides accountability measures.

    The need for the development of alternative node options, in addition to the long-standing and successful Haskell node implementation that has served as the backbone of the Cardano ecosystem to date, has gained significant traction in recent months. The importance of which was highlighted by the recent Node Diversity workshop held in Paris alongside Paris Blockchain Week 2025, demonstrating some ecosystem consensus that such development would be a suitable area for some treasury allocation for funding.

    Finally, at the time of voting, the proposal metadata is hosted via the more immutable medium of IPFS where the file remains accessible and the hash has been verified as matching that provided at the time of proposal submission.

    I'm fully supportive of node diversity on Cardano. This is something we can work on while doing other developments in the ecosystem that are just as important. I'd prefer to see a completed smart contract to reference for future treasury withdrawals, however the roadmap on how it's going to be laid out and the team working on it is sufficient for now.
